How can you shoot good pictures when you are traveling?
The first mistake we make is that you do not know their camera well enough before the trip. I was in Istanbul and that is why I am writing this so you will not have to remake my mistake. I took our compact camera instead of the DSLR. It’s a Canon Powershot A85 and it is full enough camera if you’re going to take good tourist pictures. In addition, easy to carry around in different locations like the nightclub.
I had not used the camera as much in a long time and when I look back it would have been good that before the trip tried it. Photographing part of getting to know it again. Read the manual and repeat functions. Good preparation is always a and o. You do not want to miss the picture of your companions and the Taj Mahal just because you forgot to check about the camera in the right position.
My first tip is to try to have something in the foreground so that you get deep into the picture. Consider, moreover, that it is always good if something happens to the picture. You see here Mr. Atatürk oversees love pairs in the park near Sultanahmet. The tree in the foreground and the statue of Atatürk creates a depth to the picture. It had not been as interesting if I had taken a picture of the statue outright. It also sees a sharp-eyed lovers who are sitting on a bench behind the statue.
The second tip is to try to capture events. To stand in front of a destination is simple and very sad that image. Try to catch an event. Try to let people move and act natural in picture. You see here photos from the Hagia Sophia which is under way to restore the roof.
Do you want to yourself or a companion to ensure that something happens in the picture. You may purchase a magazine or even tie his shoes. Here a merchant outside Hagia Sophia, which sells sesame pretzels for 1 Turkish lira. Events creates an interest in the image and makes you remember back better. I can almost feel the smell of sesame the pretzel gives and the taste in the mouth.
Tip three is to use a long time and your surroundings as naturally stand. What a long time? If you turn off the flash forces the camera to expose longer than if you have the “p”- or “auto”-mode. Turn it to “Tv”-mode and it keeps the shutter open for a long time and your image will be enough light. You will see my picture from the night club 360. I have spent a long time and had a bottle stand. It is difficult anyway because it easily becomes blur when people move, but it might be a cool effect to relive the light.
Similarly, I have used a tree as a stand when I caught the bridge that goes from the Asian side back into Europe. Indoors, you may find other natural stand or use yourself as a tripod, hold the camera against your body. Sometimes it may be necessary to flash please note that you do not have someone close to you to catch up flash light. It is important that it can be spread across your subject.
The fourth and final tip is that if you have a picture with a little dull and bright sky, perhaps it will live up in Black / White or why not add a colortint. I put on a bluish tint on the picture. I might later do a screencast how you do that.
