Kids with cameras is a good example of photography opportunities. The project was launched by Zana Briski for a project where she photographed Calcutta prostitutes. The children of prostitutes have low status and her mind was to give the children a future by stimulating their curiosity.

It seems that she has succeeded, a lot of the kids participating in Kids with cameras appears to have a bright future. The idea of this project is that through the children’s creativity and imagination, teach photography to get them to show their reality. To learn photography also creates the incentive to want to learn more and get a good education.

Work with Kids with cameras has also led to an Oscar in the documentary “Born into Brothels” and that is when I see this kind of successful projects that I first see the power of the image and what it can create, but also makes me think and hope on a brighter future if we all help each other.
