It is important that you think of the licenses that is the condition under which the images are published. You should specify who is the photographer and photos may sometimes be used for commercial purposes.
Searchable sources
Wikimedia – a source where all images are either in the Public Domain, Creative Commons or GFDL. You are looking myself up country or region you are looking for pictures. It could be Israel , Palestine or the Middle East. It is easy to slip over to Wikipedia where the images from wikimedia used. You can watch in category Public Domain if you want an image that you can do whatever you want with. For example, you can find such images on Israel during PD_Israel.
U.S. Search.gov Images – here you will find images that are often the public domain as they are used in the various U.S. authorities. You can search on for example the Middle East to find what you want, but it’s probably better to be more specific, such as Gaza.
Partimes Space Pictures Mid East – Pictures taken by satellite from areas in the Middle East. NASA images are in Public domain. You can find the country you are looking for from NASA .
Ping News presents pictures in different categories at flickr, which purports to be Public Domain or Creative Commons , for example, Mideast. I myself would be cautious and try to find out where the images come.
