June 29th, 2010

ljungThe morninglight will turn your photo much softer so think of the time as a modifier to your light. It will make your photo much softer in tones and let the subject has a much warmer tone. The light is important and plays a important role to the subject that you are portraiting. So let it be a concern to take pictures at the right time.

It might be well worth the wait or going up early one morning just to take that picture. Then aperture and shutter speed play a much less role and the actual time you take your photo is much more important.

Local Contrast and how it remove haze

June 21st, 2010

katarina hissen local enhancementLocal enhancement is a simplier name on sharpening your picture with a large radius. I use 30-50 points as a size when sharpening. I usually use a radius that is quite small when i sharpen my picture but here you use a very large radius thus will effect the contrast in the picture. I have played around some although effecting the haze.

I wanted some halo-effects on the picture and thus i wanted it to control the picture with strong contrast. If you take your time and play around with unsharp mask you can have some strange effects. It is vital that you know of local contrast since it is a useful tool.

Remember you also can do USM only on the light layer in LAB mode to have a sharper image that will not effect the coulor of the photo. Doing unsharp mask will effect the image in different ways making it somewhat darker and this you should know of.

The motif should contrast against the background

June 13th, 2010

ljungThe motif will contrast against the background and stand out more if this is a thing you think of. This is a quite messy background could actually improve if you bring your own background. I like it as it is adding to the environment though photographic it is mych better if you bring a background.

You can also bring a bottle of water and spray the motif if you think that is a way of improving the picture. Food photographer also may improve the picture with using glucose and actually making the food inedibly. You should not always trust your eyes and start improving the photo with all means.

One should know this as it is important as photographer to create an illusion and the perfect picture. Lighting is perfect and the eye is pleased. The photo might in reality be faulty in others perspective.

granUsing a short depth of field will help you compose your photo. It will bring out the subject and make it clearer what you want to point out. When you use a longer depth of field composing will be more complex and you also get the opportunity to use other objects as symbols and what you are telling with the picture.
