Making a timelapse with simple technique and free software
June 23rd, 2010
I have been home with my sick son all day. The only thing i find out i needed was Moviemaker for Windows 7 to make an own timelapse. That software won´t work on XP or older OS. You will need an older version of Moviemaker if you use XP or older software.
What i did was i took the aquarel pad that i usually draw on. Making my drawings with the aquarel technique. Next thing i taped a sand paper on to the table and then put the pad next to an picture i would like to draw. The sandpaper is so that the pad won´t move you can also use double-sided tape.
I then put up my tripod and made sure i wasn´t using any image stabilisation. I actually used my old camera Olympus E-3 but any camera will be ok. Don´t have it set on auto whitebalance and set it instead to any steady white balance. Otherwise it will change during the takes.
You then take a picture and paint some. Take a new picture and paint some. After a while you have taken some photos of you creating in time. You then put the images and set for how long the images will be shown and you will make yourselves a little simple timelapse.
Remember that do small changes since the movie will then be smother even though it will take longer to create. If you want to change the white balance of all pictures use Lightroom and make a preset that you use on all the pictures. They will then change for you and all will change the same.
